As many of you are aware in the past year The Centre has been faced with the dilemma of replacing one third of its funding, which was withdrawn by The Southwark Diocese. We are delighted to announce that, following consultations between The Croydon LEA and The Management Committee, The Croydon LEA have agreed to support CRERC with the remaining funds required (plus some extra funds for development) to enhance the teaching of RE in Croydon Schools and support the Community Cohesion Development. We are looking forward to The Centre’s valuable work being continued and future developments taking place. Alongside this we were also trying to find a new location for CRERC. We are pleased to confirm that CRERC will be remaining at the present location and will continue to function efficiently without any disruptions.
Although the location is the same,
our new postal address and email are as
follows:
New Postal Address: CRERC, A Block, c/o The
New Email
Address:
library@crerc.org.uk
CRERC had a big culling of resources in the summer and held a ‘Book Sale’ which was very successful, thanks to those that popped in. The money raised will be used to buy more up to date resources, to replace the ones that have been removed. The remaining Christian books were collected by ‘Book Aid’, who will distribute them around the world. So, it is great to know they will be in good hands. With the funding issue being solved we have been able to order New Resources. Yippee!! At the moment we have some great new resources for Harvest and Black History Month. So either pop-in, call us or check out the website for what's on offer. Don't Forget! Request your Artefact boxes & Resources early in time for the Autumn Festivals like Sukkot (Jewish Harvest 3-11 Oct), Christian Harvest Festival (Sept/Oct), Divali (Hindu & Sikh 17 Oct), Ramadhan (Muslim Fasting Celebration Sept) and Christmas. REMEMBER! to save time and make use of our Online Reservations Facility. I am also pleased to report that they are being used successfully on a more regular basis. We have had lots of positive feedback about how convenient and time saving the reservation facility is, especially alongside the free school bag service for Croydon Schools. Fauzia Ali (Resource Officer)
