Spring 2008 – Resource Officer’s Report

In the past year the CRERC Management Committee was busy trying to find a new location for CRERC.  Despite this being a little unsettling for us, it has been business as usual and the staff & Volunteers have continued their invaluable services to its users. We have been busy updating resources, welcoming & supporting visitors and holding faith events.

I’m delighted that it has been decided that CRERC can remain in its present premises and continue to function efficiently without any disruptions.

I am pleased to report that the on-line facilities are being used successfully on a  more regular basis. We have had lots of positive feedback about how convenient and time saving the reservation facility is, especially alongside the free school bag service for Croydon Schools.

Continuing our support for interfaith initiatives, CRERC organised a number of faith events in 2007.  In May The Buddhism Seminar led by Sue Bolton & Les Kemp offered an excellent insight into the Buddhist Faith and stimulating ideas to use with children. In July CRERC ran a very successful Godly Play Workshop, thanks to Rev Stuart Lee from St Matthews Church Wimbledon, who led the event.   A number of enthusiastic Sunday School teachers truly benefited from Rev Lee’s inspiring and stimulating approach to teaching Baptism and Holy Communion.  In August, thanks to Pamela & Brian Pavitt, we were delighted to have a group of visitors from The Purley URC, who were in London for the 13th International Partnership Conference.  It was a great opportunity to share ideas about how to build positive relationships with different faith groups.    In October The Hinduism Through Dance Seminar led by Mayura Patel (Director & Founder of Aanikam Dance Academy) was truly motivating and enlightened us with the essence and meaning of traditional Hindu dance. She delightfully ended the evening by performing a Temple Art Dance for us.

We now look forward to supporting your needs in the year ahead.
